What Interactive Brokers pays for inviting a friend
- Program type
- Both a refer-a-friend and an affiliate program
- Qualifies on
- The friend must be new, open an individual or joint account, deposit at least $10,000 within 30 days and hold that balance for a year. You need $2,000 in your own account and at least one trade behind you.
- Payout delay
- Your $200 arrives only after their balance has held for a full year
- Cap
- 15 referrals a year and 30 in a lifetime — $3,000 in total
- Availability
- Residents of mainland China, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Denmark, Israel and Poland cannot take part at all. Clients opening at the Canadian or Indian entity cannot receive the shares.
The friend's side was cut on 2 July 2026: it used to be $1 of stock per $100 deposited, now it is per $300, with the same $1,000 ceiling. Maxing it out therefore needs around $300,000 of deposits.
